WPYC Sailing Instructions

Series and Club Sponsor - Whitworth’s Mona Vale

As the fleet varies significantly in terms of size, speed and manoeuvrability, and the level of sailing experience differs from skipper to skipper -
ALL skippers are expected to show tolerance when sailing in close quarters.

WINTER SERIES
The WPYC winter series will consist of twelve races, sailed on the first and fourth Sunday of May through to October.
Two races will be dropped and the handicaps will be adjusted as required.

SUMMER SERIES
The WPYC summer series will consist of 20 races during daylight saving, check calendar for dates.
Three races will be dropped and the handicaps will be adjusted as required. The last and 21st race of the Summer Series is the Ladies Race, and this race is not part of the summer point score.

TROPHY SERIES
The Trophy Series of races consist of 3 races within the Summer Series but as a separate point score of their own. The handicapping system is exactly the same, as is the course, however it is sailed in the opposite direction. This series came about due to an extension of daylight savings, and to give the more casual sailor the chance to possibly win something without having to sail all season. There are no dropped races in this series.
